Static eliminator ion elimination is not clean or eliminate the causes of failure? Static eliminator by the high-voltage power producer and discharge electrodes (generally made of ion needles), through the tip of the high-voltage halo discharge will be ionized into a large number of positive and negative ions of air, and then a large number of positive and negative ions blown to the surface of the object to neutralize the static electricity, or direct neutralization of static electricity. It is widely used in ESDS (electrostatic discharge sensitive) equipment for the prevention and control of static electricity. In daily use, static eliminators will inevitably have problems such as ions not eliminated or ion elimination failure. Today, let's look at the causes of these problems.


I. Power supply, gas source.


① power supply is not grounded or grounding is not fully guaranteed grounding. Transformer does not ensure good grounding, grounding knob is tightened.


② The gas source used is not effectively filtered, the filter is not cleaned in time. Water, oil, dust/dust particles enter the ion generator chamber and adhere to the inner wall of the plastic parts.


Note: When water, oil, dust/dirt particles accumulate to a certain level, the ionizing needle will catch fire. Honeycomb-like scorch damage gradually forms on the plastic parts and the amount of ion exclusion gradually decreases; it can be a safety hazard.


      

Second, adjust the electrostatic eliminator static effect.

Third, the launch needle problem

After applying high pressure on the firing pin, the small dust around the firing pin will be charged with the resulting ions. As a result of the discharge needle and charged dust between the existence of Coulomb force, dust will adhere to the launch needle, resulting in launch needle contamination.


② Damage to the emitter pin


Static eliminators usually apply more than 4kV to the discharge needle (2-3kV for high frequency AC method) Therefore, the tip portion of the discharge needle carries a very large energy load. This is the main cause of wear and tear on the discharge needle. Contamination also increases corrosion and wear on the electrode needle.


Once the tip of the discharge needle wears out, the concentration of the electric field energy will inevitably decrease and therefore the ion generation will also decrease. The reduction in ion generation slows down the de-energization time. In addition, when the discharge needle wears out, it also has a significant effect on the occurrence of positive and negative ions. In other words, the reduction of positive ions is greater than that of negative ions, and therefore the occurrence of negative ions is greater than that of positive ions, resulting in a poorer electrostatic balance.
